Individual Stories

Personal Stories Told Through Illustration

Every one of us carries experiences within our bodies that shape who we are.

Some commissions celebrate joy, freedom, identity and adventure. Others honour resilience, healing, growth or a significant chapter in life. These personalised illustrations are often created to mark personal milestones, honour meaningful moments, capture periods of transformation or preserve memories that continue to shape us.

Whether inspired by a dream, a meaningful place, a personal philosophy or a defining moment, every illustration is carefully created to reflect the uniqueness of the person it represents.

The finished bespoke artwork becomes a talisman of who we are, what we value and the journey that has brought us to this point.

Featured Commissions

Black and white illustration of a person with a flower and butterfly elements integrated into the body, with the person's face replaced by a large flower and butterfly wings covering the arms and torso.

I Dissent

I Dissent is a celebration of defiance and self-determination. The wing is inspired by the Peacock Butterfly, one of the toughest butterflies in the UK. It represents survival, endurance and strength, both in the distance it can travel and the many ways it protects itself from predators. Here, it is hand-sewn into place, representing a self-generated rebirth, a transformation created through courage, persistence and choice.

The flower is a Potentilla, a symbol of strength and womanhood. The fully bloomed flower invites reflection on what your strength has already helped you achieve, while the flower in bud asks you to imagine what may still be possible.

With the owner's permission, this illustration was later submitted to a community art competition, where it received an award.

An artistic illustration of a cheetah's face with closed eyes, decorated with a crown of colorful flowers on its head, set against a dark background with brushstroke accents.

What?

This commission was for a person choosing truth over conformity, vulnerability over protection, and who carries their convictions with quiet determination rather than force.

The cheetah stands as a guardian of authenticity. It embodies the courage to move through life guided by instinct and values rather than expectation.

Crowned with wildflowers, it honours the strength found in sensitivity and the beauty of remaining emotionally alive.

Sometimes the greatest act of courage is simply to stand in the fullness of who we are.

A line art illustration of a woman with short hair, standing in water with her arms raised, and a background of stylized waves.

The Swimmer & The Sea

Created to celebrate the beauty of the female body and the joy of the South East coast, this piece explores the freedom that comes from feeling fully at home in ourselves. Standing amongst flowing waves with arms lifted towards the sky, the swimmer embodies complete immersion in a moment of happiness, where body, sea and self become intertwined.

This commission was to show joy without condition, honouring the freedom that comes from inhabiting our bodies fully and allowing ourselves to feel alive, connected and at home in the world around us.
